Different strokes

IMG_5076-1 (2)

A bit of a change in subject matter and media.I took photos of a couple of local horse/ponies and made sketches in the studio using soft pastels

This particular pony had real attitude which attracted me, not sure if its a girl or a boy but it’s called “Magic”. I hope I captured its “magic” personality

  1. Hi Phil,

Now they are stunning. If I thought I could produce art like this, I would be rushing out to buy pastels myself.

    MAGIC!

  2. These are great, Phil. I gotta say, just when I think I would recognize art by you even if not on your blog, you change it up.

I've only used pan pastels and have difficulty getting definition. How do you get the hair to look like individual strands?

  8. Not enough life in them? You could have fooled me! I thought the first painting was a photo...I think they're all wonderful...don't be so hard on yourself...you're working with a new medium.
